Rogers & Rufus Grenache Rose Barossa Valley Australia is a bone-dry rose with a floral, spicy, bright nose of juicy red apples, red currants & dried herbs. Delicate & savoury with a palate of soft stone fruit & citrus, fresh acidity & soft tannins.
The Grenache grapes that produced this Rogers & Rufus Rosé are sourced from bush vines and the grapes are harvested and then held in the press for one to four hours to develop colour and flavour. After pressing, grapes are transferred to used French and Hungarian barrels for natural fermentation then they are left to mature on their lees for two months before blending.
It is a highly aromatic wine that opens with strawberries and cream, cherry blossom and a hint of pear skin and has flavours of raspberry iced tea, red apple and pomegranate. A supple and briny texture with a blood orange finish leaves you looking for the next sip.
Rogers & Rufus are an unlikely winemaking duo but here they are :
Rufus – The lack of sun and serious waves in Blighty never deterred Rufus in his passion for the surf. He has all the kit; but secretly is rather nervous of the whole thing. He is particularly frightened of sharks. A successful wine merchant in South Kensington London, Rufus loves to mix his search for interesting wines from around the world with his passion for finding the perfect wave, particularly in Australia and NZ. Like Rogers, he loves the best ingredients or grapes made into delicious fresh tasting wines. The same can be said for food freshly cooked always using the best ingredients, often cooked al fresco.
Rogers – A passionate fisherman of dubious ability. He is particularly keen on fishing whilst on holidays but rarely if ever, does he catch anything. He keeps a small boat on the South Coast of Australia near Adelaide where it is rumoured the local fishermen believe he is a threat to the reputation of their fishing grounds. He would like to be thought of as a Hunter-Gatherer but sadly his wife cannot rely on him; always having frozen back up available. A professional winemaker of great repute, Rogers is never happier than when in his old fishing apparel. When relaxing, he loves to link wine/vineyards to rivers/beaches. It is his love of fine wine, good food and the outdoor life that introduced him to his London wine merchant friend Rufus.
Great as an aperitif or served with light meats and fish dishes.
