Intro to Chateau Lamothe Cissac –

Chateau Lamothe Cissac is a traditional style Bordeaux with blackcurrant and soft fruits with oaky overtones. It is well-balanced palate with soft tannins and a very delicate finish and good aging potential.

Full tasting note and wine making –

Ch Lamothe Cissac is a traditional Bordeaux with much elegance and savoury fruit and exhibits a dark ruby colour in the first years. The wine displays a large spectrum of aromas with notes of red and blackcurrant and jammy fruits associated with soft spices and subtle vanilla. Well-balanced palate with soft tannins and a very delicate finish. Cellaring a few years will develop a complex mix of leather, undergrowth and smoky notes.
The vineyard is located party on the commune of Cissac adjacent to Pauillac and partly on the plateau of Vertheuil contiguous with Saint-Estèphe. The gravelly subsoil is covered with a clay limestone topsoil in some areas and a clay gravel topsoil in other areas.
The harvest is fermented in vats perfectly suited for the vinification of fine red Bordeaux wines. Two or three times daily the wine is pumped-over to optimise the colour and tannin extraction from the skins with 6 weeks maceration.. Micro-oxygenation is carried out in Vat to improve the tannin structure and colour intensity prior to aging in French oak.

The producer –

When Gabriel Fabre purchased the property in 1964, the whole vineyard had to be replanted and the winery completely rebuilt.
His son, Vincent Fabre, took over the management of the estate in 1991. The 33 hectare vineyard is located partly on the commune of Cissac adjacent to Pauillac and partly on the plateau of Vertheuil contiguous with Saint-Estèphe.
In Roman times, the terroir around the estate was already famous for producing quality wines. Remnants of a Roman villa have been discovered close to the Château.
