Intro to Campfire Puddingstone Pudding Gin or Pud Pud –
Under stars, by a campfire, a gin was born. Pitching camp on the boundary between classic and contemporary styles ten botanicals including rich coffee cherry, sweet, fresh orange, hazelnut and piney juniper are distilled with the finest UK wheat spirit. Neat, over ice or in a cocktail, discover and enjoy the Spirit of the Outdoors.
Puddingstone Pudding Gin, or PUD PUD for short, is our winter release from the Tring distillery. Hertfordshire made Christmas pudding is distilled in Isabella our 50 litre still. As the pudding vapour rises it passes through a vapour basket containing Macedonian juniper and sweet orange. This seasonal addition to our range is presented with labels made from cherry wood veneer finished with copper and gold foil.
The producer –
The unique recipe for Campfire Gin evolved over 18 months of experimentation, imagination and sometimes intoxication. We distill this fine gin in small batches at Puddingstone Distillery. Our desire to ensure delivery of the best product possible means we carry out every part of the process, from selecting and preparing botanicals, distilling according to our own unique process, resting (the gin and us) to bottling and labelling. Then and only then we release each of these bottled treasures from our Chilterns based distillery so they may begin their own adventure.
Puddingstone Distillery – Campfire Gin –
Named after a rare local rock formation, Puddingstone Distillery houses a 50 litre still called Isabella and a 200 litre still called Amelia. Both stills were named by our Campfire crowd after two great female adventurers – Isabella Lucy Bird and Amelia Earhart. The Hertfordshire Puddingstone is characterized by silica-cemented flint gravel that is brown to deep red in color and often exhibits black exteriors and thin rinds on cut or polished surfaces. It typically occurs scattered across the land surface as isolated concretion-like masses and is seen in Hertfordshire near Puckeridge.
