Intro to Bremerton Tamblyn –

Bremerton Tamblyn from Langhorne Creek in South Australia is a blend of grape varieties that together create a robust well-balanced wine with long flavours.

Full tasting note and wine making –

The family name Tamblyn is in recognition of our grandmother’s ancestors who migrated to Australia from Cornwall, England. The Bremerton Tamblyn blend utilises the characteristics of the different varietals to give a wine that is full flavoured and balanced with a very approachable mouthfeel. Cabernet Sauvignon provides the complementary tannin structure, Shiraz adds berry fruit weight, Malbec adds a perfumed lift and intense colour and the Merlot rounds out the palate. The wine is complex but approachable so can be enjoyed now or cellared for a few years.
The grapes for this wine were fermented separately in open top fermenters and matured in new and old French and American barrels for 18 months before blending and bottling.

The producer –

Two sisters running a winery? Absolutely – and doing a great job of it too, if the many awards and accolades are anything to go by! In fact, the Bremerton winery is now run by Rebecca: winemaker and Lucy: marketing and sales.
Langhorne Creek has a history of viticulture dating back to 1860, producing some of the finest fruit in Australia, which persuaded Craig and Mignonne Willson to settle there in 1985. Little could they have known at the time whether a winemaking career would appeal to either of their young daughters.
Premium wines require premium grapes. Bremerton Wines has planted 290 acres at Langhorne Creek and the predominant varieties grown are Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, with plantings of Sauvignon Blanc, Verdelho, Chardonnay, Malbec and Petit Verdot.
The winemaking team headed by family winemaker Rebecca Willson who seeks the best possible fruit to craft traditional, full bodied, full flavoured, mouthfilling Langhorne Creek wines. The winery has invested heavily in a premium French & American oak barriques to ensure subtle and complementary oak influences. The winery utilises tradtional open top fermenters, made from stainless steel and a purpose built barrel cellar for maturation. New laboratory and tasting facilities are part of the winery.
