Thursday 12th January - great tasting with Mike Henley at Craggy Range including the two dessert wines not seen in the UK - delicious
Also Te Mata with Nick Buck - tasting the range, including older vintages of the lovely Sauvignon and the ico wine Coleraine.
Lastly, a great tasting with Gordon Russell at Esk Valley including a tour of the Terraces vineyard and a tasting of the 2002 The Terraces of which there are only 22 bottles left!
We've now had 2 days in Martinborough after a very bumpy flight due to 150km/hr winds! A fascinating wine region with characterful wines and winemakers - the stars of the tasting were the Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir wines.
Now back in Wellington before catching the ferry to South Island to start week 2 in Nelson and Marlborough.
We enjoyed a very relaxing afternoon with Wendy, Owen and Jack Glover from Zephyr Wines,Marlborough at their lovely holiday home on the Sounds. delicious leisurely lunch and tasting of their wines.
Monday - very busy day with 5 winery visits - Yealands, Clark Estates (home of Boreham Wood wines), Auntsfield, Marlborough Winegrowers and Delta Wines.
Tuesday - great tasting of Kevin Judd's wines at Greywacke, he used to make wine at Cloudy Bay. We then went to Cloudy Bay followed by Fromm. Lots of great wines today.
